Being an esthetician in Brooklyn that promotes a ton on social media, I get asked many different types of questions. The most frequently asked question is how to get glowing skin that’s blackhead free.
The answer? HydraFacial and Dermaplaning!
This treatment will extract out all your unwanted gunk, get your skin peach fuzz free and infuse a ton of hydration.
The first step? A double cleanse. Making sure every last bit of makeup, moisturizer and SPF is removed before we get into dermaplaning.
Second step? One of my favorites-- dermaplaning! If you’re not sure what this is, it's a method of manual exfoliation that uses a surgical scalpel to remove 28 days worth of dead skin cells and peach fuzz. Don’t be scared, it doesn’t hurt! It’s a little scratchy, but definitely not uncomfortable. For clients who are on the dryer side, I like to use a facial oil to help with the glide. For clients who are more on the normal to oily side, usually I dermaplane dry. Once the dermaplaning is finished, you will see all the dead skin and facial hair that used to hang out on your skin. Dermaplaning WILL NOT make your hair grow back thicker or darker!
Third step? HydraFacial. This step has 3 steps of its own. Cleanse and Peel, Extract and Hydrate, Fuse and Protect.
Let’s break it down a little more.
Cleanse and Peel. Using Lactic acid and Glucosamine, these ingredients help further loosen dead skin cells and soften sebum to help with extractions later on. Then using 7% Glycolic and 1.5% salicylic, this further helps with the exfoliation process by softening sebum, eliminating excess oil and brightening the skin.
Next? My favorite step, Extract and hydrate. Using HydraFacials Vortex fusion, the spiral design of the teal tip helps dislodge blackheads and vacuum impurities while infusing the skin with Honey and Spiraea Ulmaria Flower Extract to hydrate, calm and soothe. If there's still some further congestion, I love to go in with some manual extractions. This step guarantees to leave your pores feeling refreshed.
