Part Two: Most Common Skincare Mistakes

You’re here! Check out part two of skin-care mistakes that make your skin feel not so royal.

Not Removing Your Makeup Before Bed.

Sleeping in your makeup may not sound terrible but when you think of it, it does more harm than good. Sleeping in eye makeup can cause eye infections or irritation. People who consistently sleep with mascara on can end up having thin lashes that even fall out. Sleeping in face makeup will clog your pores (especially if you're using makeup products that are already pore-clogging), and cause acne breakouts and blackheads. Our tip- as soon as you get home from a night on the town or even that long commute from NYC, remove your makeup! That way the pressure won't be on if you fall asleep binge watch your newest Netflix obsession.

Not Washing Your Pillow Case.

Do you remember when the last time you washed your pillowcase was? If you think about it, your face touches your pillow case for at least 7 hours a night. Your pillowcase has a build up of oils, dirt, and sweat from daily use. Not washing your pillow case at least once a week is the most common culprit of acne. Keeping your pillow case clean will make a huge impact on your skin and hair.

Using Hot Water To Wash Your Face.

Washing your face with hot or cold water can disrupt the skin's barrier. It will also Irritate and dry out your skin, while potentially worsening eczema, psoriasis, acne and rosacea. Sticking to lukewarm water will ensure your skin doesn't feel compromised post shower or washing your face.

Not Washing Your Makeup Brushes.

This is one we are all guilty of. Your brushes accumulate bacteria when they aren't clean. A dirty brush is the perfect way to aggravate your acne and other skin conditions.

When you don’t wash your brushes, they become caked with makeup and can make blending your perfect makeup look a hassle. Keeping your brushes clean will make your brushes last longer, and will not contaminate your makeup products.
